CEREC cosmetic dental technology

One-smile makeover is all the rage these days. CEREC cosmetic dentistry has been making waves during the last few years, helping hundreds of patients restore their smile and improve their appearance in one visit.

Dental technology is transforming our lives by the day. State-of-the-art innovations in dental devices are requiring less time in the dental chair, making for a more comfortable and convenient experience while creating remarkable results.

One of the most advanced instruments that has evolve in the cosmetic dentistry care is CEREC technology. Simply stated, CEREC dental technology can quickly restore damaged teeth with natural-coloured ceramic fillings, saving patients’ valuable time and effort

How does CEREC work?

CEREC incorporates CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, featuring a camera, computer and milling machine in one entire instrument. The cosmetic dentist uses a special camera to take an accurate impression of the damaged tooth.

This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a colour computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically crafts the restoration with you await comfortably at the dentist’s office.

Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth - the entire process is completed in one visit.

What does CEREC dental technology mean for the patient?

CEREC is paving the way for the future of one-visit smile makeover. A tooth-coloured restoration means no more discolouring smiles. The dental crown is as natural-looking as it could be, compatible with tissues in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Cosmetic dentists no longer need to create temporary crowns or take impressions and send them to a lab.

For this reason, the traditional second visit to the dentist has been eliminated.

At a glance, here are the benefits of CEREC dental technology:

- One appointment is required

- No impressions, no temporaries, no metal

- Natural looking porcelain matches the tooth enamel

- Restore more healthy tooth structure
